Countries who are not performing good or are seeing a high rise in new cases (as of 17th May 2020)-  

1) Russia- Has seen a high rise in cases in the past few weeks and is the worst impacted nation after USA.2)Iran- One of the worst impacted nations overall and has been seeing a new growth but is slowly recovering although new cases have started to rise again.3)Mexico- Cases in mexico have reached a new peak but we hope they will fall soon.

Time taken by various countries to reach 1000 cases-
1) USA- Is the worst impacted country as of writing this blog and it took around 50 days for USA to reach 1000 cases.
2) Iran- One of the worst impacted nations of this pandemic took only 11 days to reach 1000 cases.
3) Russia- The second worst impacted nation due to the pandemic took 41 days to reach 1000 cases.
4) India- India took 59 days to cross 1000 cases.
5) Spain- The third worst impacted nation by the pandemic took 39 days to reach 1000 cases.

So why are we looking at this data and why does it matter ?

  • Data is a significant tool to combat the disease as data can give us an insight of how the pandemic might go on and how should we respond and which areas should be prioritize.
  • Recently this has helped the Indian government to classify areas on basis of the impact of the pandemic.
  • Data also can create hope if a country is doing good against the pandemic.

Which countries are the least affected by the pandemic ?

Saint Pierre Miquelon and Anguilla have 0 active cases as of writing this article. While Saint Pierre Miquelon had 1 official case but now has none and Anguilla had 3 active cases but now has none.
